You are warned – Canada is hardly renowned for its exotic beachfront, and you won’t find yourself sipping piña coladas on a patio surrounded by palm trees in the middle of February. (You may be surprised to learn that we do have a few imported palm trees, and beaches and warm waters can be found in the summer months!)
But before dismissing Canada on account of the weather, note that 90 per cent of the Canadian population live within 100 kilometres of the southern border (shared with the United States). As the chart below demonstrates, weather conditions in most cities are relatively similar to those of New York City, Chicago or Seattle.
